    Right Where She Should Have Been

    It was mid March on my home lake at Ft. Gibson in N.E. Oklahoma. I was trying to establish a good pre-spawn pattern in the mid lake area. The lake had been high and muddy for several weeks and was just starting to settle back down to normal. The water temp was rising daily and had reached an average of 55 degrees in the areas I was checking so I knew the big females should be moving up to stage. I started out working the edges of flats with 2 to 4 feet of water and drops from 6 to 9 feet. I found the majority of fish were close to brush and rock piles sitting right on the edges.

    Team Colter Wins Regional Event
    Young Angler brings its 2nd annual walleye tournament to Lake Pokegama in Grand Rapids, MN. With nearly 40 teams and 80 kids ready to chase the big walleyes that roam the waters of Pokegama, the day is a sunny and perfect for some heavy weights to be brought to the scale.

    Pokegama is a 6700 acre lake with an abundance of smelt and certainly one filled with numbers of species. With the early season being much colder then normal, most of the walleyes are still staged on the abundance of weedlines based along the shorelines. The presentation will be mainly of jigs and minnows or crawlers.

    South Carolina State Team
    The 2008 TBF of South Carolina State Team finessed its way to a fourth place finish in the three day TBF Southern Division Championship on Lake Norman in North Carolina. The Team relied on 8 and 10 pound Vicious Fluorocarbon line to fish Shakey Head worms and PJ’s Finesse jigs in the event.



    Vicious Tournament Team member wins IL Bass Federation Nation State Championship
    Vicious Tournament Team member Rich Newell won the Illinois Bass Federation Nation State Championship on May 3rd and 4th at the Cal-Sag River and Lake Calumet in Alsip Illinois. He had a two day limit of 18 pounds 51 ounces. Rich Caught his fish on crankbaits fished on Vicious fluorocarbon line. Rich is a resident of Aurora Illinois and a participant the IBFN COS tournaments. He is also the 2007 COS Classic Champion and long time President of The Illinois Valley Bassmasters.


    In the co-angler division, Steven Wisdom of Birmingham, Ala., took the Day 1 lead with 15 pounds, 9 ounces. Co-anglers are vying for a top prize of $25,000 in the three-day competition.
